Air New Zealand Lights Up Auckland to Celebrate Diwali

Business Wire India
The city of Auckland, New Zealand, celebrated Diwali in style over the weekend with the national carrier Air New Zealand helping to light up the country’s largest and most ethnically diverse city during its annual Auckland Diwali Festival.

People from all over the city converged in the down town hot spots of Aotea Square and Queen Street to celebrate Indian culture with authentic Indian cuisine, traditional and contemporary music and dance, a hotly contested Bollywood dance competition, a light show and a fireworks grand finale.

The two-day event showcased the unique sights, sounds and tastes of India and was a celebration of Auckland’s ethnic diversity in line with Diwali’s symbolism of the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and renewal of life.

Air New Zealand Area Manager South & South East Asia Mischa Mannix-Opie says Air New Zealand’s support for the Auckland Diwali Festival reflects the growing importance of the airline’s Indian customer base both in New Zealand and India.

“The event is a great opportunity for us to come together with Singapore Airlines to promote our alliance. Our code share services connect customers from 11 Indian cities on Singapore Airlines and Silk Air services to Singapore.  From there customers can access three non-stop flights a day between Singapore and New Zealand (Auckland and Christchurch) and four times a week to Wellington.”

Economy Class fares for round-trip travel between India and New Zealand are available from Rs 72,000 and can be booked through www.airnewzealand.in.
