Business Wire IndiaThe second edition of Coffee Day Malnad Ultra, India’s premier endurance run, will see 441 amateur runners from various parts of the nation and 7 other countries vying for top positions in three categories of the second edition scheduled for October 7-8, 2017 in the Western Ghats of Karnataka through the picturesque coffee estates.
Coffee Day Malnad Ultra combines the rigour of an ultramarathon with the unique experience of a trail run through some of the most enchanting and exciting terrain that you can imagine. Distinctly different from the 25 odd ultramarathons that India hosts, the inaugural edition of this race was accepted as a Qualifier Race for UTMB. The course is laid out in the heartland of Indian coffee in the Malnad region of Karnataka at elevations from 3000 to 4500- It is designed to provide the next-level experience for marathoners.
The second edition of the run sees enthusiastic response from participants. As many as 124 runners have registered for the 110k run, the most challenging trail. There are 60 runners registered for the 80k run and 257 for the popular the 50k run. While 416 are male participants, 35 are female runners (110k - 6; 80k – 5 and 50k - 24). About 18 runners from Germany, U.S, U.K, Korea, China, France, and UAE have also registered for the run indicating the growing popularity of Malnad Ultra in foreign shores.

While the terrain promises to be tough and situated at high altitudes, one will get the opportunity to run through the pristine and natural beauty of Coffee Day’s plantations and enjoy the picturesque view from the top. The origin of these estates can be traced back to 1870 and is replete with history and folklore. The plantations today are home to a variety of birds and wildlife and Coffee Day has contributed towards preservation of wildlife from the very beginning.

Designed to provide the next-level experience for marathoners, there are three categories at this Ultra - 50 Km, 80 Km and 110 Km, and many of the participants complete the run.

The Malnad Ultra is mostly a Trail Run through an enchanting and challenging terrain near Kemmanagundi in the Malnad Region of Karnataka. It is designed to provide the next-level experience for marathoners who have got bored of the usual city runs and want to experience the mind-body connection with nature.
