National Insurance is one of the four public sector general insurance companies which are wholly owned by Government of India. National Insurance Company Limited came into existence in 1906. After several decades, National Insurance Corporation become nationalized in 1972 and began to work as a subsidiary of GIC. From 2002 onwards, National Insurance Company has been operating as a stand-alone general insurance company.
